If You Answered "Yes" To Some Of These Questions You Most Likely Have A Thyroid Condition…
There are 2 types of Thyroid cases…Which one are you?
1. You suspected you had a thyroid condition, went to the doctor, got tested and they told you that your tests were "normal"
2. You suspected you had a thyroid condition, went to the doctor, got tested and they gave you thyroid medication because you had a low thyroid….BUT you didn’t feel any better after getting this treatment.
Theproblem is that there are over 20 different patterns of thyroid dysfunction which require 10 different thyroid tests to identify which pattern of thyroid
problem you have but the only test covered by medical insurance that your doctor will run is TSH…thyroid stimulating hormone.
Take a look at the diagram below on the next page…you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to see that are quite a few places for the thyroid system to
break down and the only test you most likely will ever get is TSH…how in the world can you identify which pattern you have with only ONE test??
Ok, so maybe you saw a master endocrinologist and they check T3 and T4…still isn’t going to tell you all the rest of what you need to know to correct the problem…
So why doesn’t your doctor run all these tests? First, the insurance companies are not going to pay for all these tests because it’s not standard practice based on our present medical system.
Second, the treatment for low thyroid is T4 medication…synthroid, levothroid, levoxyl, etc…and it doesn’t matter what any of the other tests may say because the treatment is T4 regardless…if your thyroid is low and your TSH is high.
Which brings me to another interesting point…I believe at one time I heard research shows something close to 9 out of 10 low thyroid cases may be
hashimotos autoimmune thyroid disease and a large amount of those people may have a problem with food sensitivities…especially gluten (breads, oats, pasta, corn, corn starch, high fructose corn syrup, etc.)
Why do I mention food sensitivities like gluten? If you are taking medication like the ones mentioned above that have corn starch as a binder, you may be adding gas to the fire of your autoimmune reaction going on inside of you.
How do you get an autoimmune disease? If you eat a food like gluten that you are sensitive to over many years, it can cause low level inflammation that
causes the walls of your digestive system to become more porous and leak out large proteins that don’t belong in the blood stream…
Your body then attacks those proteins as they are interpreted as foreign invaders and then your body may get confused and attack other protein
systems in your body as well (thyroid system attack called hashimotos autoimmune thyroiditis, spinal cord called multiple sclerosis, joint tissue called rheumatoid arthritis, etc…)
One way to determine if you have an autoimmune reaction to the thyroid system is to run antibody tests for the thyroid system (that are almost never run by our medical system or not covered by insurance)
Also, food sensitivity testing for foods that may be causing inflammation are not usually run or covered as well.
Next up that may add to the thyroid problem is the liver. Did you know that one of the functions of your liver is to convert 60% of your unconverted unuseable T4 hormones to T3 useable hormones?
If you’ve driven your car for as many miles as most…you change the oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles because your filter gets dirty or clogged…which is the nature of every filter…to filter and get clogged.
Did you know your liver has to filter out what your heart pumps every minute of the day…5 liters per minute…300 liters per hour…7,200 liters per day…2.6
million liters per year…and how many years have you been on the planet and never cleaned out your liver?
Yes, you can clean out your filter…again not a standard medical practice or procedure…our process usually takes about 21 days to complete.
If your filter is clogged…how can it convert 60% of your thyroid hormones to drive your metabolism?
And then there is the issue of digestion…20% of your T4 hormones are converted to active ready for use in the digestive system. So if you have gas,
bloating, constipation, diarrhea, heartburn or acid reflux…you may be losing another 20% of your metabolism.
Next, is cortisol…yes, that hormone that causes increased belly fat due to it’s ability to block T3 DEAD IN IT’S TRACKS…It block T3 from getting into any of your cells!
How do you know if your cortisol is too high? We can do saliva hormone testing (your doctor will almost NEVER talk about these glands…let alone
test them) or you may notice you have a hard time falling asleep or staying asleep…a tell tale sign your cortisol may be too high.
Also cortisol is TOXIC to your brain! When cortisol gets too high too long…different parts of the brain may be damaged…memory loss, sluggish
mental thought, changes in irritability, blurring vision upon fatigue, depression, lack of motivation, etc…
If you are experiencing memory loss…what disease do you think that may turn into? Dementia? Or how about muscle twitching or loss of coordination movements? Parkinsons?
There is hope though…at our clinic in Northern California we perform functional brain assessments. We can identify the areas of the brain that are dysregulated and we many times can reverse
the symptoms of brain dysfunction without drugs or surgery…improved memory, focus, cognitive function, muscle control, etc…
